How The Chrono Classic From Victorinox Swiss Army Stacks Up

By Rob Dunwoody

I want you to stop and consider a couple companies that are famous for manufacturing amazing watches. If you're like most, you probably thought of a couple Swiss watches companies. And that's because they've been making great watches for hundreds of year. That being said, not all Swiss watches are made the same. In this article, I'll take a look at the Chrono Classic made by Victorinox Swiss Army to see how well it holds up against the competition.

I always like to start with the negative stuff to get it out of the way. One little issue that sometimes pops up is with the stop watch feature ("chronograph"). Sometimes, it gets stuck a little off the spot for zero even when you reset it. But this isn't a huge problem and can usually be fixed by recalibrating the watch.

There's another little issue if you buy the watch online that you might want to know about. If you purchase this watch from a company other than Victorinox, like Amazon for example, you will lose out on their 3-year manufacturers warranty. So just bear that in mind and check out the warranty of the site you buy it from.

Aside from that, there's really nothing else negative to say about this watch. I'm serious about that; I scoured the internet to find all the negative things people are saying about this watch. But I came up empty. This watch is really Victorinox's secret weapon, it's an amazing timepiece.

To start, everything about the watch gives off an aura of absolutely luxury. It was made with the simple, beautiful design that has become a Victorinox calling card. And the best part? It even looks better in person than the pictures online would indicate, which is saying a lot.

There's nothing cheap about how it feels on your wrist, either. It has a really sturdy design and it's got great weight to it (but not too heavy!). The face of the watch, which is the part that gets exposed to the elements the most, is made out of Sapphire crystal. This material is almost impossible to damage; you could almost use it as a hammer and still not scratch it (Almost! Don't actually try that!). And the timing device loses, at most, a second or two a week.

If you want to check out a really neat version of this watch, look at the PVD Coated variation. It has a textured look called "guilloche" that makes it reflect back light differently depending on how the light hits it. Between that look and all the nice details, it's a really beautiful watch.

In sum, this watch is a really incredible piece of Swiss craftsmanship. Between the incredibly beautiful design and the really solid construction, you'll have people staring at your watch for many years. And it would be hard to find a better deal on a watch since you can get the Chrono Classic for around $300 right now.
