Unique beaded jewelry has a very long history that is also quite colorful if you look at it closely. They can be traced before the start of the earliest civilizations in the world. The pieces that were found in prehistoric and ancient periods are great sources of inspirations to many makers of today. Experts claimed that Egyptians were fascinated in making those glass ones rather than making is use of natural materials. In fact, most of them became masters in the process of making glass beads using all types of gemstones during that period. It was also known that red and green were the colors that they value the most.

Meanwhile, the Egyptians were not the only civilization that was fascinated in making different accessories. Ancient Mesopotamians also considered lapis lazuli very important. Their products were mostly built using jasper, carnelian, and agates. Instead of working with glass, they focused more in perfecting techniques in metalwork.

On another note, there are still current debates on the function of old ornaments in the past. Many believe that their uses before are somehow similar to the way they are used today. First, they are used for their ornamental value. Next, they are known to be symbols of the social status of people.

However, these ornaments were known to be related with many beliefs that are considered superstitious. Warding off evil spirits as well as bad luck were popular in the past due to their sought after mystical powers. On another note, there also pieces that are believed to make individuals who wear them lucky with their lives.
