Elegance And Beauty With Rhinestone Crowns

By Angel Dudley

The use of crowning dates to many previous centuries when dynasties and monarchies existed. Kings and queens across the globe were adorned with gems and the magnificence of jewels to remind of power, prestige, victory and honor. Today the fascination for such wealth and jeweled wonder still captures our attention, though the practice of authentic and rhinestone crowns for political leaders is largely no longer part of the modern world.

Rhinestones adorning fancy headdresses can be dated back to the 13th century in the countries of Bohemia and Czech Republic. During this time rhinestones sometimes replaced diamonds in jewelry settings. They were also used to resemble real gem and precious stones.

This is true for both the Victorian and the Edwardian periods. In the Victorian period it was common to see combinations of snakes and flowers that often included rhinestones. In the Edwardian period extravagance was on the rise with a combination of magnificently faked diamonds, or rhinestones, and perfect pearls.

Today we are no less fascinated with the tradition of crowning and the exquisite crystalline beauty of rhinestones. The tradition of crowning has continued with stunning tiaras, and various types of head jewelry used in wedding celebrations around the world. It has also continued with the crowning of beauty pageant and prom winners, as a sign of honor, prestige, victory and respect. Though historically men also wore also adorned, today the only men wearing them are those in positions of authority within some religious practices, or in some countries where the practice still exists.

The sets we now use are an impressive array of design, rhinestones, and often other stones. Stones range in a combination of fascinating neon stones, to blues, yellows, greens and gold. Styles range greatly depending on the event and sometimes even the age of the person wearing the tiara. Young girls may wear simple designs, while brides may wear more intricate designs. Winners of beauty pageants often wear stunning pieces and pass on their beautiful prize to the next winner.

Rhinestones are used in settings to create a certain mood, and to fit with the event. Different styles of colored glass can be included, from neon to those resembling precious stones such as sapphires, rubies and diamonds. Various designs exist to create a design masterpiece that perfectly ensembles an event or outfit. Some fit snugly around the head, others are meant to stand out and shine.

Those for younger girls are headband like, and may be a combination of butterflies, and fancy flower designs, hearts or stars. Most have beautiful rhinestones throughout, and are perfect for weddings or other events. Tiaras worn by the bride are often accompanied by other sparkling jewelry. Common for weddings and classy events are pearls and rhinestones. They are also a sign of purity at weddings.

The use of crowning continues to symbolize beauty, strength and victory, and is also elegant and beautiful. Rhinestones continue to fascinate and captivate, and add style to special days. Because of its timeless beauty the practice of rhinestone crowns continues.
