There Are Plenty Of Places To Look For Ideas When Designing Biker Rings For Men

By Tara Daniels

Artists or jewelers who are looking to design biker rings for men can find plenty of sources of inspiration across the media, arts and history. While certain ideas and themes tend to resurface in biker clothing and accessories, finding some fresh inspiration is easier than it might first appear. Concepts as diverse as the Old West and science fiction can turn up new ideas for designers.

Some bikers, for example, like to recall basic gothic and horror iconography in the clothes they wear, coupled with items of biker style, or given a biker twist. Many rings feature designs based on skulls or the skull and crossbones, with many bikers enjoying the stylistic links between themselves and pirates of previous days. The skull, and associated designs based on death, also communicate a message of living on the edge, which appeals to many bikers.

Motorcycle culture also often consciously mimics the outlaw culture of the Old West, and some good ideas for designs for rings and other clothing and jewelery can often be found in books and movies about the American frontier. The American Civil War is another potentially very rich source of inspiration for bikers. Flag designs, Native American imagery and gun iconography can all be drawn from this era in history.

Going to the movies can also be a great source of ideas of jewelery designers who are working on designs for motorcyclists. While horror movies have already been mentioned in passing, designers can also look to super hero, action and science fiction films for inspiration. Many of the characters in these types of movies are associated with iconic images which can be varied for jewelery designs.

It can also be a good idea for designers of this type of men's jewelery to look to music too, with rock music having been long associated with motorcycling. Many bands have logos and imagery which can be incorporated into designs, while images of iconic singers or quotation text can additionally be used. Sometimes an image associated with a particular lyric or song can be turned into an item of jewelery too.

With many motorcyclists enjoying heavy metal music, it is perhaps no surprise that many jewelery designs use imagery taken from fantasy literature, such as the Lord of the Rings. There have long been connections between heavy metal and fantasy storytelling, and fantasy novels can provide plenty of ideas for designers. The source material becomes even richer if the literary source has also been made into films.

The actual machinery of motorbikes can also be used to give form to ideas when designing jewelery . Engines often feature some iconic piece of machinery which can, on occasion, look very striking indeed. Using machinery in designs can also show how strong the bond is between a biker and the type of machine which he usually rides on the road.

Seeking out inspiration for the design of biker rings for men can be an interesting and stimulating process. It is also much easier than it might at first sound, with plenty of potential sources of inspiration out there. The outlaw culture which surrounds motorcycling should in itself be a good place to start for anyone who might be stuck for ideas.
