Tips For Creating Memorable Wedding Candelabra Centerpieces

By Kenneth Hamilton

Your wedding reception has to be perfect. Everything from the entertainment and the food to the flowers must be planned carefully. If your reception includes a sit down dinner, or buffet, you will have to make more decisions than just what is on the menu. The place settings, linens, and centerpieces, must set the tone you want to project. If your plan includes candelabra centerpieces, for example, you have to think about the table configuration, the venue, unique elements, and your theme.

A theme is important when you are decorating a large event room. This is what pulls the room into a cohesive unit. You can tie your reception theme in with your wedding theme or have a seasonal style reception. Candelabras appropriate for rustic receptions won't be at all appropriate for something as formal as a Victorian themed reception.

When you are considering venues, you need to know what rules and regulations they have regarding breakable glass and flaming candles. Understanding what they will, and will not, accept will save you a lot of headaches in the long run. You don't want to plan your arrangements one way just to discover, at the last minute, that you can't use them and have to come up with something else.

Your candelabras have to conform to the size and configuration of your tables. If you and the groom will be seated at a head table with the wedding party and your family while other guests are seated at smaller tables, one size candelabra won't do. You might have several large candelabras arranged along the head table with smaller versions arranged on the guest tables.

You'll probably want to incorporate flowers into the centerpiece in some way. If this is the case, you need to decide whether you prefer fresh or silk. Fresh flowers are the preference of most, but they can be extremely expensive, especially if you are decorating multiple tables. They are also fragile and won't last forever.

Creative brides might come up with imaginative alternatives to flowers. In addition to the expense, fresh flowers can be difficult to transport and work with. Even silk flowers take time to arrange perfectly. Instead of flowers, you might consider colorful vegetables or fruit arranged in such a way as to complement the centerpiece and the table.

If you do something really imaginative and unexpected, your guests will notice and remember. When you have your heart set on flowers as part of your table design, consider adding some unusual and decorative elements. Branches, stones, seashells, or feathers are good examples of added touches that will impress your guests. Don't think all the candelabras must match exactly. As long as they have something in common with one another, a distinctive look at each table can be very effective.

You can create a memorable and elegant reception in a lot of ways. It isn't necessary to break the bank to get a look you will be proud of. You will need some imagination to create a room that you and your guests will remember.
